Adding Homely Remedies
Medication Management allows you to add your organisations approved list of Homely Remedies for administration purposes. A homely remedy is a non-prescription medicine that is available over the counter in community pharmacies. They can be used in a care home (with and without nursing) for the short-term management of minor, self-limiting conditions, e.g. headache, cold symptoms, cough, mild diarrhoea, occasional pain.
- Click on Admin Options,
- Click Settings
- Click Orders Library
- Click Homely Remedies from the Categories list - this will bring up a list of existing Homely Remedies
Note: If Homely Remedies does not appear as a Category, click the plus (+) icon and add it as a Category.
- To add a new Homely Remedy, click Add New: Medication - this will open up a blank Medication Order for you to populate. You should populate the Medication Order as if you were adding a normal PRN Order
- Add a Title – usually a description of what the medication is used for
- Click Stock Item
- Populate appropriate Order fields (Medication, Strength, Form ... etc)
- Click Save
Note: To edit a existing Homely Remedy, select it from the list and update the details as appropriate. Be sure to click Save afterwards to ensure your changes are saved.
